I had a ton of fun participating in my first Sew Mama Sew Giveaway. I loved reading about all of your favorite holiday foods. I think I need some of your recipes!
The winner of my giveaway is Jinxy Jen! Here’s what Jen says about her favorite holiday food, “So many fave foods, how do I pick?? Everyone knows my love for cheese and anything cheese-related…but for holiday specific, I’d have to say….COOKIES!” Congratulations, Jen! I hope you love the wristlet.
A big thanks to everyone who submitted an entry. I was truly overwhelmed by the response. I do have some wristlets in my Etsy shop if you care to take a peak.
Both my mom and my aunt appreciate my creativity and always enjoy getting handmade gifts from me. This year I decided to dye some t-shirts for them. They are both lovely older women and not “old hippies”, so I fashioned their shirts in their favorite colors palette and used nice 3/4 sleeve, crew necks from Jones New York. I used one of my favorite dye techniques (actually no “tyeing” involved), low-water immersion dyeing from Color by Accident by Ann Johnston.
Here’s the results.
The one with the gold is for my aunt. She attends a lot of University of Washington footballs games. Maybe she could wear this shirt. I left the gold out of my mom’s, even though she a Huskie fan too. She now restricts her color palette to colors that compliment her beautiful grey hair.
Now let’s hope they don’t see this post, at least until after Christmas!
I’m always thinking about new things to make with my fabric stash. Recently I noticed wristlets on some Etsy sites. So I made up a few in my own style. Shortly after posting photos of one on social media, I had the follow text conversation with my daughter.
I was so excited when my daughter told me wristlets were popular (I had no idea) and that she wanted one for Christmas! I always put super high value on positive comments given by a young person. Because then I feel a teenie weenie bit hip.
After our conversation I immediately started cutting out a few more. I am offering up this one made with Lotta Jansdotter fabric for the Sew Mama Sew Giveaway!
The wristlet is accented with hand-dyed cotton trim and a tie-dyed wristband.
